John Newton - Manna To Israel Well Supplied

John Newton - Manna To Israel Well Supplied

Manna to Israel well supplied br The want of other bread; br While God is able to provide, br His people shall be fed. br br Thus though the corn and wine should fail, br And creature-streams be dry; br The prayer of faith will still prevail, br For blessings from on high. br br Of his kind care how sweet a proof! br It suited every taste; br Who gathered most, had just enough, br Enough, who gathered least. br br 'Tis thus our gracious Lord provides br Our comforts and our cares; br His own unerring hand provides, br And gives us each our shares. br br He knows how much the weak can bear, br And helps them when they cry; br The strongest have no strength to spare, br For such he'll strongly try. br br Daily they saw the Manna come, br And cover all the ground; br But what they tried to keep at home, br Corrupted soon was found. br br Vain their attempt to store it up, br This was to tempt the Lord; br Israel must live by faith and hope, br And not upon a hoard.
