Henry King - SONNET. To Patience

Henry King - SONNET. To Patience

Down stormy passions, down; no more br Let your rude waves invade the shore br Where blushing reason sits and hides br Her from the fury of your tides. br Fit onely 'tis where you bear sway br That Fools or Franticks do obey; br Since judgment, if it not resists, br Will lose it self in your blind mists. br Fall easie Patience, fall like rest br Whose soft spells charm a troubled breast: br And where those Rebels you espy, br O in your silken cordage tie br Their malice up! so shall I raise br Altars to thank your power, and praise br The soveraign vertue of your Balm, br Which cures a Tempest by a Calm.
