John Henry Newman - A Voice from Afar

John Henry Newman - A Voice from Afar

Weep not for me;— br Be blithe as wont, nor tinge with gloom br The stream of love that circles home, br Light hearts and free! br Joy in the gifts Heaven’s bounty lends; br Nor miss my face, dear friends! br br I still am near;— br Watching the smiles I prized on earth, br Your converse mild, your blameless mirth; br Now too I hear br Of whisper’d sounds the tale complete, br Low prayers, and musings sweet. br br A sea before br The Throne is spread;—its pure still glass br Pictures all earth-scenes as they pass. br We, on its shore, br Share, in the bosom of our rest, br God's knowledge, and are blest.
