Anna Laetitia Waring - O, This Is Blessing, This Is Rest

O, this is blessing, this is rest br Unto Thine arms, O Lord, I flee: br I hide me in Thy faithful breast, br And pour out all my soul to Thee. br There is a host dissuading me, br But, all their voices far above, br I hear Thy words — “O taste and see br The comfort of a Savior's love. br And, hushing every adverse sound, br Songs of defence my soul surround, br As if all saints encamped about br One trusting heart pursued by doubt, br br And O, how solemn, yet how sweet br Their one assured, persuasive strain! br The Lord of hosts is thy retreat, br The Man who bore thy sin, thy pain. br Still in His hand thy times remain br Still of his body thou art part; br And He will prove his right to reig br O'er all things that concern thy heart. br O tenderness O truth divine! br Lord, I am altogether thine. br I have bowed down I need not flee br Peace, peace is mine in trusting Thee. br br And now I count supremely kind, br The rule that once I thought severe; br And, precious to my altered mind, br At length, Thy least reproofs appear. br Now to the love that casts out fear, br Mercy and truth, indeed seem one; br Why should I hold my ease so dear? br The work of training must be done, br I must be taught what I would know br I must be led where I would go br And all the rest ordained for me, br Till that which is not seen I see br Is to be found in trusting Thee.
