I, even I, am He that comforteth you. Isaiah 2:12 br br Sweet is the solace of Thy love, br My Heavenly Friend, to me, br While through the hidden way of faith br I journey home with Thee, br Learning by quiet thankfulness br As a dear child to be. br br Though from the shadow of Thy peace br My feet would often stray, br Thy mercy follows all my steps, br And will not turn away; br Yea, thou wilt comfort me at last, br As none beneath Thee may. br br Oft in a dark and lonely place, br I hush my hastened breath, br To hear the comfortable words br Thy loving Spirit saith; br And feel my safety in Thy hand br From every kind of death. br br O there is nothing in the world br To weigh against Thy will; br Even the dark times I dread the most br Thy covenant filfil; br And when the pleasant morning dawns br I find Thee with me still. br br Then in the secret of my soul, br Though hosts my peace invade, br Though through a waste and weary land br My lonely way he made, br Thou, even Thou, wilt comfort me br I need not be afraid. br br Still in the solitary place br I would awhile abide, br Till with the solace of Thy love br My heart is satisfied; br And all my hopes of happiness br Stay calmly at Thy side.
