Jane Kenyon - The Pond At Dusk

Jane Kenyon - The Pond At Dusk

A fly wounds the water but the wound br soon heals. Swallows tilt and twitter br overhead, dropping now and then toward br the outward-radiating evidence of food. br br br The green haze on the trees changes br into leaves, and what looks like smoke br floating over the neighbor’s barn br is only apple blossoms. br br br But sometimes what looks like disaster br is disaster: the day comes at last, br and the men struggle with the casket br just clearing the pews.
