Ray Hansell - A Disappointed Life

The ash tray holds the ashes br From his smoked out cigarettes br With each new passing day br He's filled with more regrets br br It seems life and chances br Have all but passed him by br He struggles just to exist br But he's not too sure why br br His life has been a failure br By any standard that you use br It seems the choices that he made br Were always the wrong one's to choose br br But still he always tried br To do what was right br He sleeps away the days br He stay awake all night br br Drinking eases the pain br Of a life that went all wrong br He tried so very hard br But he's just not that strong br br Years ago his wife left him br She couldn't take no more br One day when he returned home br He found a note upon door br br She wrote, I am leaving br I just can't live this way br I hope you find it in your heart br To forgive me one day br br Our children need a stable life br Not like the one we've been living br It seems you do all the taking br While I do all the giving br br I never minded making you happy br That was my part to do as your wife br But I know out there somewhere br For me and the kids, there's a better life br br So that is why we have to leave br I wish you nothing but the best br I'll think of you when I look at the kids br Goodbye, and God Bless br br Well that was twenty years ago br That's how long he's been alone br His body is old and feeling tired br He's waiting to be called home br br br 10-21-2008RJHbr br Ray Hansellbr br
