Richard Netherland Cook - My Sad Heart

Richard Netherland Cook - My Sad Heart

I went out to the sea br And sat there by the shore br Among the cragged rocks and sand, br And all the ocean roar. br br In my heart there beat br A pain as not before; br Such sadness in my mind I felt, br And through my heart it tore. br br Before me flashed sweet memories br Of a love that cannot be replaced, br And a vision in my mind did draw br The lines of her sweet face. br br Her ways were loving, gentle and kind br My thoughts did wonder far br I thought that she may be, now seeing me br From a far off distant star. br br Her loving arms around me br No longer can I feel br Just one more moment in her life br I wish that I could steal. br br Though her years were many br I still do miss her so, br And I have asked many times br Why she had to go? br br God in heaven does not disclose br The hours on earth we keep, br And now my love has passed away br Into her final sleep. br br Her voice I hear whisper in my ear br Get up and walk away br I am not lost to you forever br We will meet again someday. br br I will be here waiting to greet you br When God calls out your name, br And the love we shared upon the earth br Will be forever and the same.
