Lonnie Hicks - A Thousand Pasts

Lonnie Hicks - A Thousand Pasts

She walked out into br the cold light of her own future br quivering; br br half-present br because hard lessons br from her thousand pasts br gave no indication br of any future destination; br br therefore, she stalled br at the intersection br strung out on reality br hoping to mold br a destiny br from a too-crowded br yesterday, br br one jumbled up with faded significances br leaving her with br obfuscations rambling within her thousand-fold memories, br which taken together, subdued her consciousness br leaving her br devoid of intent br or direction br and meaning. br br 'I have seen' she said br 'too much TV; br too many versions of the truth; br experienced too many versions of my self br to see or forge br a clear path br in my future tense.' br br br 'The Past' she said 'is best lived br in the real world br because if I am swamped by br multitudes of pseudo life experiences br these will not necessarily lead br anywhere br and there is born future confusion br and ended momentum br and I, I see, am left with only br Media, Computer and TV memories br and crippling apathy.' br br 'Life is best led' she said sadly; br not viewed or merely read; br and how much of what I currently br am br is derived of such? ' br br And yet br these thousand points br are mine br and part of me; br how to re-assemble them br into coherency- br my generations reveille br and hard task br to achieve.
