Rafael Yaw Kumi - Gone Too Soon

Rafael Yaw Kumi - Gone Too Soon

Prelude br It may sound like an elegy yet it rings like the love song of parakeets br When the heart of a man becomes the abyss of confused maladies, br It speaks as though bidding despedida even though it barely said bienvenida br A moment’s glance and a second’s touch linger like Mediterranean lavender in summertime… br br br What says a man’s heart when it does not know the words of the dirge it sings! br Bury the fury of love, my dear heart, and hope it rises refreshed br Else, let lie and let slumber the heart that feared to love yet was loved br Gone too soon, she melts into the bowels of the earth – her elusive rhythm dances to a familiar song – the elegy of a romance too soon forgotten br br A maiden’s heart only stirs up the wrath of love and tends it not! br Sate the flames of love lest it consumes itself and all along with it! br Let the hesitant heart thud with the pulse of her own blood for she will never know what harmonies lie in the tempo of two hearts beating as one br Gone too soon, her illusions of uncertainty leave her wondering… br Will she ever know what it feels like to live and love again? br br The dawn of a lovers’ heart is foolishness and impulse br Hopes and fantasies, sometimes true, mostly false br At midday, his heart races with the affection of a million others br The sun of possibilities dies when day into dusk weathers br When night falls and my heart is lonely, I groan yet I grow and, inside, I glow br With the maturity of heart that two decades of loving have taught me br Has love left too soon – gone forever or destined to return someday to nest in the meadows of safety? br Perhaps she will risk an unsightly foray of unsavoury hearts, who knows.
