Eku McGred2 - African Child

I am an African child br Born with a skin the colour of chocolate br Bright, brilliant and articulate br Strong and bold; I'm gifted br Talented enough to be the best br I am an African child br br Often the target of pity br My future is not confined to charity br Give me the gift of a lifetime; br Give me a dream, a door of opportunity; br I will thrive br I am an African child br br Do not hide my fault br show me my wrong br I am like any other; br Teach me to dream br And I will become br I am an African child br br I am the son, daughter of the soil br Rich in texture and content br Full of potential for a better tomorrow br Teach me discipline, teach me character, teach me hard work br Teach me to think like the star within me br I am an African child br br I can be extra-ordinary br call me William Kamkwamba the Inventor; br Give me a library with books br Give me a scrap yard and discarded electronics br Give me a broken bicycle; br Plus the freedom to be me br And I will build you a wind mill br I am an African child br br We are the new generation br Not afraid to be us br Uniquely gifted, black and talented br Shining like the stars we are br We are the children of Africa br Making the best of us br Yes! I am an African child br br © 2010 Eku McGredbr br Eku McGred2br br
