O Sudhir Janardhanan - Night Rain

O Sudhir Janardhanan - Night Rain

It rained, on our first night br An incessant, whiney rain br Cooling, with its humidity yet br Raising warm sweat br Why do I remember? br We talked, only of it, br the night over br Searching, seeking something familiar... br We loved rains br But, not this rain br br It’s not raining tonight br The breeze, pushing that branch, br thumps a static beat on the pane br Drilling, droning, holding sway; br exfoliating thoughts br revealing memories – remembered always br Raw, yet to heal, hurts lot br It’s not raining br Only the clouds playing, br with the moon br Teasing, tormenting; br driving it out from the room br br Lying on this bed, br stoked with fervour, br through the years br Wasted memory seeks, br possession of love’s ardour br This is the very room, where br we are together, always br Tonight, I want the rain br to shut out the night sounds br The crickets, owls in the background br Just, to hear the rain’s roar br Echo our pains, pleasure’s bounds, more br When heart calloused, puts out hands br seeking loves embrace br br Tonight, I want it to rain br At least; the incessant, whiney rain...
