louis rams - (to all poets) HEAD IN THE CLOUDS

My head was up in the clouds br No daylight to be found. br White and gray clouds covered my sight br I could not see for my mind was in flight. br I looked all around and all I could see br Was the clouds covering me. br br I felt like I was in a plane br And all the passengers seeing the same. br br So I know I’m not the only one br Who feels this way br Millions of people go through this br From day to day. br br It doesn’t matter to you what br The others are going through br Just that it’s happening to you. br You don’t like this feeling br of being up in the air br And with others your thoughts br You can not share. br Is this a sign of dementia or Alzheimer’s br Disease, And can I set myself free. br They say “ the mind is a terrible thing to lose” br It is not something that we choose. br Will I forget my loved ones br And everything that’s around br Will I stumble and fall to the ground. br br Right now we still have our faculties br But for how long will that be? br So let us continue to write while we can br For tomorrow we can not plan. br Write everything that you think br See and feel, for in the future br Your mind may reel. br Head up in the clouds? Who is to say. br Until the medical fields find a better way.
