Lonnie Hicks - Sunshine and Dust Motes

Lonnie Hicks - Sunshine and Dust Motes

I am captured here br behind velvet walls, br winging birds outside the window. br br Time is my bunk-mate; br Gentle Regrets br sweeten my tea: br the passon fruit has decayed br and yet br I make of this an odd contentment; br even Lonliness can be a friend br if you have no other; br br I made of this my strange concoction br which grows upon you such br that its deficiences br can seem in time strangely beautiful; br but this, too, is the lonliness of knowing br no one can understand br this odd beauty br but I. br br So I smooth the table cloth br and dust the furniture br watch the dust motes fly br glittering momentarily; br the sun behind br br illuminating them; br creating the illusion br that dust flying br is a star. br br And each one is I br fluttering ever so gently br to the inevitable ground br but retrieved every now and again br by gentle br household breezes br which I stir br to save them.
