R.K Das - A FEW DROPS OF DEW

Bound by earth and sky br The particles of darkness br Of my existence br Got crystallized into br Fertile dew-drops. br br The thin clouds br Of scattered dew-drops br In the womb of an br Unfathomable vacuum br Assembled in ones and twos br Over my semi-bald head, br Promising a heavy downpour br On the pale leaves of grass at my feet, br During an autumnal twilight. br br I was really amused to perceive br How those mere dew-drops br Could regenerate br So much greenery br Here, there, everywhere br And even on my bald- head. br br At a distant horizon br On the dark boughs br Of a parched gulmohar tree br Red petals appeared br And singing birds perched br And surprisingly I could hold br The fragrance of thin hairs br Grown around her nape br With a solid passion, br Singing nursery-rhymes br To utmost perfection. br br In the empty corridors of my ribs br Broken desires and disabled opportunities br Raised their wrinkled scalps br For a few drops of dew. br br I really marvelled br At the sight of those dew-drops br Of such multiple colours br Creating a cascading effect br In their beauty and significance br Which I adored br And many a time imbibed. br br But, alas! I didn’t know br Such ethereal dew-drops br Could feel so insecure br Merely at the sight br Of a pregnant eastern sky.br br R.
