I hear the pulpits ringing br About mankind's mortal sin; br From what I hear and see, I fear br A sickness lurks within. br br The cancers eating at our souls br Are violence, sex and drugs; br While most of this we just dismiss, br With non-commital shrugs. br br Our teens are pregnant, kids kill kids, br While wealth and waste abound; br Guns in schools, illiteracy rules, br Lord! A sickness walks around. br br We have scandal in high places, br As we lose our moral codes; br We follow the flow, we won't say no br So, we walk the Roman roads. br br This is a dear, great country, br With just and faulty laws; br Perhaps we could, God knows we should br Amend these serious flaws.
