Robert Laurence Binyon - A Prayer

Robert Laurence Binyon - A Prayer

O Thou who seekest me br Through the day's heartless hurry and uproar, br Who followest me to my thought's farthest shore-- br Nay, who art gone before-- br Sustain me, O sustain br The heart that seeks for thee. br The world is filled with rendings and with pain, br But thou with peace; with peace though wronged so sore br By our despair, blind wrath, and blind disdain. br And thou hast made it dear br To hope against the wrongs of every hour, br And given to hope the power br And passion to prevail; br The heart, for all its fear, br Putting forth delicate, shy flower on flower br Against the hard world's hail. br O might my love, that in one heart has found br Such hope to cherish, and such joy to sound, br O might it grow through days that chafe and bound br And our true souls from one another screen, br Till in its clear profound br Part of thy peace were seen.
