Laura Elizabeth Richards - Prince Tatters

Laura Elizabeth Richards - Prince Tatters

Little Prince Tatters has lost his cap! br Over the hedge he threw it; br Into the river it fell br Kerslap br ! br Stupid old thing, to do it! br Now Mother may sigh and Nurse may fume br For the gay little cap with its eagle plume. br 'One cannot be thinking all day of such matters! br Trifles are trifles!' says little Prince Tatters. br br Little Prince Tatters has lost his coat! br Playing, he did not need it; br 'Left it br right there br , by the nanny-goat, br And nobody never seed it!' br Now Mother and Nurse may search till night br For the new little coat with its buttons bright; br But 'Coat sleeves or shirt sleeves, how little it matters! br Trifles are trifles!' says little Prince Tatters. br br Little Prince Tatters has LOST HIS BALL! br Rolled away down the street! br Somebody'll have br to find it br , that's all, br Before he can sleep or eat. br Now raise the neighborhood quickly, do! br And send for the crier and constable, too! br 'Trifles are trifles, but serious matters, br They must be br seen to br ,' says little Prince Tatters.
