Horace Smith - Ozymandias

Horace Smith - Ozymandias

In Egypt's sandy silence, all alone, br Stands a gigantic Leg, which far off throws br The only shadow that the Desart knows:- br 'I am great OZYMANDIAS,' saith the stone, br 'The King of Kings; this mighty City shows br 'The wonders of my hand.'- The City's gone,- br Nought but the Leg remaining to disclose br The site of this forgotten Babylon. br br We wonder,-and some Hunter may express br Wonder like ours, when thro' the wilderness br Where London stood, holding the Wolf in chace, br He meets some fragment huge, and stops to guess br What powerful but unrecorded race br Once dwelt in that annihilated place.
