Ella Higginson - Moonrise in the Rockies

The trembling train clings to the leaning wall br Of solid stone; a thousand feet below br Sinks a black gulf; the sky hangs like a pall br Upon the peaks of everlasting snow. br br Then of a sudden springs a rim of light, br Curved like a silver sickle. High and higher— br Till the full moon burns on the breast of night, br And a million firs stand tipped with lucent fire.
