Smoky Hoss - A Million Miles From Home

Smoky Hoss - A Million Miles From Home

There's a distant radio station br Way, way out there... br Plays in my mind, all the time, br Native American, br Western song and rhyme- br Sounds of a voice calling br From a true old friend, br Whispering wind br Blown in from heaven br Persistently pushes through me br Alluring awe and br Beckoning beauty... br br God, br I feel a million million br Miles from home. br And very often a way out there br In the desert br So all alone, br It causes me, br More than anything else, br To seek You. br This desert so stark and so real br My soul feels the wind br As it touches the pure sky of blue. br And still-always it seems- br I'm a million miles from Home. br It's why I can't stay still, br Following the spirits will. br I travel with nothing more br Than what I wear, br Old worn boots br Faded jacket br Hat for shade br Canteen for thirst, br I'll trust the love of strangers br With food to share, br I've no earthly roots br No place to stay and sit br Memories wander and fade br As I continue to seek br The Last and the First. br br And still-always it seems- br I'm a million miles from Home. br I feel it all so deep br In my weary bones. br Will I ever make it? br Does the wind-spirit lead me there? br Blind I look, br Deaf I listen... br Only my heart seems to truly understand br I've nowhere else to go, br Whether a million miles away br Or a million days br I will continue searching throughout this land br Until I find I know, br What yet I do not know.
