louis rams - The Single Father

louis rams - The Single Father

I was a single father raising my child br It had been hard for quite a while. br Having my parents watch him during the day br And no other child with which to play. br br I would walk in the door and he br would jump with joy, this was my little boy. br I would give him horsy back rides br And he would laugh until he cried. br We would play “ hide n seek” br And thru his fingers he would peek. br br Then we’d run around playing tag br He’d laugh so hard that he would gag. br He had such a shrilling laugh br That the gasses I would pass. br Then he’d laugh even harder br This is my son, and I his father. br br Now he is in school learning to read and write br And his grades are dynamite. br I come home from work and still br Make time to play. br And I thank GOD for him every day. br br A father and son playing together br In this life what can be better? br It can be better when you have br a boy and girl to share your life. br The boy will go thru cuts and scrapes br And she will go thru satin and lace. br br She will pick out her own dress to wear br And certain secrets with you she’ll share. br She will play with her dolls and toys br And capture the hearts of all the boys br br She will become the soft side of you br For this is what little girls do. br So to all the single fathers still out there br This is my poem with you I’ll share. br br Not many fathers will accept responsibilities br But there are some out there like you and me.
