Lonnie Hicks - Treading Lightly

Lonnie Hicks - Treading Lightly

I lather up all my memories br and shave my face at its edges br utilizing blade and steel br to cut tiny hair stalks br away br underneath to br reveal br a new me br with perhaps also br tiny blood stains br etched into that new face br and braced br in the mirror-glow br I look at the new me br br there br making my daily vow br br to make the newly-shaven me br shine this day br better than yesterday br and I part the new day br with the sideways slant br I recognize as my smile br and conclude br sure each day br someone br or something br has given me morning sun br to do something with. br br And all my doubts fly br and I say br 'whatever that can be will be' br as I close my mirror vanity br leaving through the door br to venture out br to the day's destiny, br treading lightly br in the morning br misty sun.
