Stephen Holland - Nobody's Friend

Stephen Holland - Nobody's Friend

Nobody notices nobody cares br Look at the state of the clothes that he wears br His only home is the bench in the park br His one friend the bottle comforts him in the dark br The police show no interest as they move him along br Where in the past did your life turn so wrong? br Look at the state of the clothes that he wears br Nobody notices, nobody cares br br Maybe sometimes, a change in fortune br Might bring him food and shelter in a hostelry room br But these days though welcome are all too rare br For most of the time there just is nobody there br A newspaper blanket on a pillow of stone br Is all that he ever has all that he owns br Ask yourself then just how it is br A man who is someone could be subject to this br br Where he comes from nobody can tell br And where he goes to, well he just might a well br Be dead, for no-one would miss him at all br Now his life is fading, he tries to recall br His wife his friends his children br The family next door br All killed in an instance from a bomb in the war br And now his own life has come to an end br He'll die without memorial he's nobody's friendbr br Stephen Hollandbr br
