I write these words to God and him alone br Surveyor of my soul, my prince of peace br Who pours his blessings on my troubled soul br and grants forgiveness for my heart’s release br br I’ve written poems for a woman’s love br I’ve written verse to stir the minds of men br I’ve written lines so that all who may read br will think I am a master of this pen br br But just for now, I dedicate this page br to my creator, he who formed my life br He who’s grace and mercy I entreat br to ease my tribulation, stress and strife br br A thousand pages could not hold the joy br I feel when I dwell on what I’ve received br Ten thousand notebooks never could contain br The peace he gives to those who do believe br br Who could drop a verse tighter than God? br Who could write a rhyme to match his skill? br Who could rock a crowd like our Allah? br Who but God could write bars of free will? br br I know no other spirit with his grace br He penetrates from flesh right through to bone br Surveyor of my soul, my prince of peace br I write these words to God and him alonebr br Hiram Simsbr br
