The regal “ Ego” br Sat in a tuft br Not long ago br To anger rather swift br br Its fine and princely sure br Yet an Achilles’ heel br For the second person to ensure; br Twist around fingers I feel! br br Yes oft I observe Great men fall br To the trap of flattery br Although otherwise tall br Words as if a bribery! br br Regal the manipulator br Knowing the pitfalls ahead br Try to but futile warn of predator br Waiting to make his rose bed! br br What more can unconditional love desire br Without uncaring sit by his warm fire br Even if burdens cannot share; br His patient love needless to retire.
