ANDREW BLAKEMORE - A Room with No Windows

ANDREW BLAKEMORE - A Room with No Windows

I locked myself away br Inside a room that had no windows, br Where the sunlight never reached br And each morning like the night. br Inside that room I prayed br That peace would return br Unto the world I no longer knew. br And there I felt safe. br Safe from the terror that existed outside, br And I could not see the war br That raged throughout the lands. br Nor could I look upon those once verdant hills br That I'd loved with all my heart, br But now lay stained by the blood of the fallen souls br Who had given their lives for no reason. br And so within that room I remained. br Waiting... br For the sound of gunfire to cease, br Waiting... br For the fear to subside, br Waiting... br For the winds of change br To blow away the dark, evil cloud br That had descended, br Spreading hatred wherever it did go. br As I stared at the stark, bare walls that surrounded me, br I dreamed of the day br When the birds would sing again br And the world would be at peace once more.
