Dr John Celes - The Anna Hazare Phenomenon (India's Anti-corruption Struggle)

A man in his mid-seventies br A freedom fighter veteran br Fights against a mammoth vice br ’Tis Anti corruption! br br Alone he fights and defies br The Government for his fast; br He can’t have his ways with ease br Nation watches aghast! br br Freedom for a freed nation! br That’s what most people want; br Gone too high has corruption; br People join with a chant. br br Democracy does not work, br Riddled by problems great; br Voters turn almost berserk; br Politicians, they hate. br br Why give mandate for corrupt? br Let people introspect; br Struggles should not peace disrupt, br The law, we must respect. br br The old man will not give up fast; br The bill must involve all; br People unite more than in past; br It is a clarion call. br br Yet, no one is above law; br The issue is too big; br No law made is without flaw; br ‘A wig remains a wig! ’ br br One can’t stall the Parliament; br Democracy must win; br A large nation’s one big lament br ‘Just root out corruption! ’ br br The problem is so colossal; br The government’s in a fix; br All expect a miracle, br That needs a magic mix. br br Quick victory is not in sight; br The menace must be curbed; br It requires the people’s might; br No use being perturbed.
