Lenore Lee - In The Art Class

Lenore Lee - In The Art Class

I look around this joyful room, br Amongst the peaceful teens br This is perhaps the only class br Where students are not machines br br In the art class they’ll smile br In the art class they’ll yell br In the art class they‘ll be kind br And not raise a hell br br Many teachers wonder why this is so br Many teachers wonder where the secret lies br The secret to peaceful teens, which enjoy their work br The secret to the students without depressed cries br br The students wonder how they could not get it br How they could not understand br How the teachers don’t realise br That in the art room there are no demands br br In the maths class there are complications br In the English room there is language br But in the art room there is only creativity br It is that which students which to salvage br br The art teacher is simple and kind br The art teacher doesn’t lecture or scream br The art teacher doesn’t force them to be equal br And make a most horrendous scene br br No, in the art class they are not equal br But the differences they admire br They have a writer, a painter and a sculptor br And they have freedom to aspire br br Freedom is what the students wish br The students wish to be treated like people br In the art class they are treated as such br In other classes they are believed incapable br br The students will always be at peace in the art room br There will be no fights, no pain, and no scorn br The other teachers will wonder what the secret is br But their attempts to find out will always be forlornbr br Lenore Leebr br
