ANDREW BLAKEMORE - 'Peace' Said The Dove

ANDREW BLAKEMORE - 'Peace' Said The Dove

'Peace' said the dove, 'please heed my call br And follow wherever I fly, br Then the land shall be filled with the song of love br And no more shall have to die.' br br 'War! ' said the crow, 'don't listen to him br Let us feed on the dead on the ground, br For the song of love is a song unheard br Let us listen to the cries all around.' br br 'Fight! ' yelled the hawk with a deafening cry br 'For they stole all our trees and our land, br And they ruined our world in which we live br With a cruel and uncaring hand.' br br 'No' said the thrush, 'for I long to hear br All the songs that we used to sing, br Before they were drowned by the battle's roar br Let us fly with the dove on the wing.' br br 'Yes' said the finch, 'I agree with you br Let the world hear our songs once more, br Let us sing now for peace just as loud as we can br In the hope we can end this war.' br br So peace won the day and the birds did sing br Till the soldiers began to hear, br Then one by one they did lay down their arms br And the smoke then did slowly clear.
