George Bernard Hough - My Genes

George Bernard Hough - My Genes

Deep inside my dna br wherein my characteristics lay. br A gene exists, it can be seen, br to make my eyes, brown, blue, or green. br The colour of my hair`s laid down br be it black or be it brown. br Pigmentation of my skin, br will I be fat, will I be thin? br A gene to say I will I be tall, br if slightly changed, will make me small! br Maybe too a gene to say br how my life will end one day. br Tendencies to illness too, br whether happy, whether blue! br Throughout the world mid human scenes, br permutations of these genes, br could be arranged for all to see, br another man who looks like me! br br Maybe there my fathers sins! br are all laid down when life begins. br Within that blueprint set in stone br that corresponds to man alone. br Perhaps my spirit, as a gene br waits entry to the worldly scene! br And if this is indeed the case, br someone in our human race. br May walk this earth not knowing he br In spirit is another me. br If this is so I wonder whether, br we do in fact all live forever. br br The foundation of my dna br laid down on that first bright day br would seem to show it is to Eve, br not Adam, as we would believe br the origin of our kind all rests.
