Tomas Tranströmer - After a Death

Tomas Tranströmer - After a Death

Once there was a shock br that left behind a long, shimmering comet tail. br It keeps us inside. It makes the TV pictures snowy. br It settles in cold drops on the telephone wires. br br One can still go slowly on skis in the winter sun br through brush where a few leaves hang on. br They resemble pages torn from old telephone directories. br Names swallowed by the cold. br br It is still beautiful to hear the heart beat br but often the shadow seems more real than the body. br The samurai looks insignificant br beside his armor of black dragon scales.
