Carmela Patterson - RUNNING THE RACE

Carmela Patterson - RUNNING THE RACE

I run the race trying to keep pace br His grace forgiving my disgrace br He makes all my limbs strong br Loves me even when I'm wrong, br I wonder why it takes so long br To hear the sound of His Song br br Hurdles though many or few br Come at the right time as if on cue br The race, marathon or sprint, br Running and girded as flint br My spirit bears a subtle hint br Of God's Own......but a glint. br br It's not for me to say 'That's enough' br Or whine the road is far too rough. br It is for me to accept God's gift br As the Lord my soul does sift br And pray my heart never to drift br As I continue the run ever so swift. br br 'Tis good we do not know what lies ahead br That we may forge on in good stead br Keeping our eyes on our Savior at all times br While we are facing our own climbs br Even though they seem slow sometimes br For each one's soul God primes. br br Stretching forward to the finish line br Striving for the reward Divine br Cheer us on as we come to that line. br As you did Paul when he ran his race br Give us also Your fortifying Grace br That we, too, may see your Face br When finally we reach... your heavenly Place.
