Adeline Foster - ~In Answer To Her Letter*

Adeline Foster - ~In Answer To Her Letter*

How often I have read your words; br How well I understand. br I also hear what others say, br And how they do expound. br br And then I hear you say, br As though I’m sitting by your side: br I’m only writing simple words, br So it’s better here to hide. br br Sometimes I’m only wondering, br And so I put it down br To help my readers wonder br Until the truth is found. br br For poets are asking questions br Of everything that’s been. br They wonder, then they look around, br Then write what they have seen. br br Our wisdom is not greater br Then others who would know. br We are just inquisitive br And so it has to show. br br But then the world looks on br And exaggerates our dreams, br And in our simple words they find br Their own tendency to extremes.
