Sylvia Lukeman - Final Moments

Sylvia Lukeman - Final Moments

Sitting with you br Watching you, helpless; br Sleep is engulfing you br What more can I do, helpless? br br Mum and you did everything for me br When I was helpless; br You always gave the right words br When everyone else gave the wrong. br br Here with you, in fear for you br Whatever can I do for you. br You did so much for me br Now I'm helpless. br br I really should have brought you cheer br Instead my gift for you is tears; br Al least your closed eyes cannot see br That I am helpless. br br It used to be you tucking me up in bed br Now nurses tuck you up instead; br White hospital pillows beneath your head.. br Try to sleep peacefully. br br I hope that happy memories br Are filling your dreams br Then surely things won't be quite br As bad as they seem. br br Still you are cut from me br By those locked eyelids. br Please wake and smile at me! br br Let's pretend that things are br Just as they used to be, br Before that stealthy coma captured you br And your shuttered lids kept us parted.
