1 br br Created purely from glass the saint stands, br Exposing his gifted quite empty hands br Like a conjurer about to begin, br A righteous man begging of righteous men. br br br 2 br br In the sun lily-and-gold-coloured, br Filtering the cruder light, he has endured, br A feature for our regard; and will keep; br Of worldly purity the stained archetype. br br br 3 br br The scummed pond twitches. The great holly-tree, br Emptied and shut, blows clear of wasting snow, br The common, puddled substance: beneath, br Like a revealed mineral, a new earth.
