Claudia Krizay - Nature's Gift

Claudia Krizay - Nature's Gift

Being the only flower bearing yellow petals br Growing tall in the center of nature’s garden br Reflecting the sunlight and dancing in br The gentle early springtime breeze- br My stem would bend perhaps and br Perhaps touch the thorns of pink and red roses- br Though only for the moment- br Roses being the most popular blossoms, br People would come and cut them down, br Place them in a vase where they would br Fragrantly and aesthetically decorate their home- br For just a few days before they wither and die- br Being a wildflower, no one cares to cut me down- br Today all of the other flowers have seemingly disappeared, br Either removed by residents of nearby homes or br Their petals blown away by an occasional gust of wind- br I remain alone amongst grasses and forever growing weeds. br Being the only flower amongst grasses, weeds, shrubs and trees, br I am content to be present – enchanted when the rain falls and br Having the space for my petals to spread and open- br So different from the roses, though beautiful to see- br Shall be robbed of their glory, cut and a few days later br They shall perish and be thrown away. br Being beautiful and loved by people has always been br Nearly everybody’s greatest dream, but for me- br Perhaps not as fragrant and lovely to look at- br Being none but an ordinary wild flower, though br I am delighted to be part of nature’s bounty- and br I believe that a longer life, br Being here to experience continued growth, and br Basking in the sunlight day by day and then br Sometimes feeling refreshed by the moisture of the rain- br Is more meaningful and is more rewarding than br Beauty, popularity and fragrance that often br Terminates even before we see the season end..
