Alan Alexander Milne - Sand-Between-The-Toes

Alan Alexander Milne - Sand-Between-The-Toes

I went down to the shouting sea, br Taking Christopher down with me, br For Nurse had given us sixpence each- br And down we went to the beach. br br We had sand in the eyes and the ears and the nose, br And sand in the hair, and sand-between-the-toes. br Whenever a good nor'wester blows, br Christopher is certain of br Sand-between-the-toes. br br br The sea was galloping grey and white; br Christopher clutched his sixpence tight; br We clambered over the humping sand- br And Christopher held my hand. br br We had sand in the eyes and the ears and the nose, br And sand in the hair, and sand-between-the-toes. br Whenever a good nor'wester blows, br Christopher is certain of br Sand-between-the-toes. br br There was a roaring in the sky; br The sea-gulls cried as they blew by; br We tried to talk, but had to shout- br Nobody else was out. br br When we got home, we had sand in the hair, br In the eyes and the ears and everywhere; br Whenever a good nor'wester blows, br Christopher is found with br Sand-between-the-toes.
