(A little light relief) br br As resting in my bed, I lay, br I saw an awesome sight br A ghostly spectre hov`ring there br To haunt me through the night br br I hid my face beneath the sheets br Too scared to move at all br What was that apparition br Which stood there by the wall br br Why had it come to visit me br To fill me with such fear br Would it stay there all night long br Or would it disappear br br I hardly dared to look again br But opened just one eye br Then slowly peeked across the room br And thought that I would die br br I`m sure I saw it move my way br I couldn`t even scream br Because through fear I`d lost my voice br Oh tell me it`s a dream! br br That`s it, I thought, I`m fast asleep br It isn`t really there br And when I wake up in the morn` br I`ll laugh at such a scare br br So, still hidden `neath the sheets, br I made it go away br Then slumbered softly through the night br Until the break of day br br And when the morning light shone in br I sat up with a frown br The ghost I thought was haunting me br Was just my dressing gown! !br br Valerie Dohrenbr br
