Sara Fielder - Snake Dance

Sara Fielder - Snake Dance

I was at the table eating God with little white asters, br as carefree as the smell of salt, br and time was as seamless and sane br as an ocean breeze. br I looked out the window carelessly br where Babylon performed br her snake dance br promising me the lies you wouldn't keep. br She said you loved me yummy, br and would stay until I was full and warm. br Trembling I dove into the glass br where all my winters turned to spring, br and poppies along the way glowed br like the sparks from chimneys. br Tomorrows turned into yesterdays br when we were young and sleepy, br and dreams dripped thick honey on us br while bees hummed around my mail skirt. br But lo, we both died fools departing, br where isolation mocks us now br at the end of each day in moonlit sonatas.
