Brian Purdy - Puzzled

Brian Purdy - Puzzled

Puzzled, I am br By the tepid response br Of those on whom I depended. br Must I walk alone this moonlit path br Stubbing my toes on crooked roots br Dislodging pebbles which signal my lonely passage? br br Who guesses my destination br And waits my arrival? What angels watch, br While offering, like fitful stars, br Provision against these shadows, br Solace for my human faults? br br And if my billy is empty br Yet still, I limber my sinews, br Contrive a liquid song to match my steps. br Tomorrow shall know my name - this I promise. br br As for those who have failed me br As I in my life let others down - don't worry. br We each have opportunities br To offer familiar travelers food and lodging br But let those false-faced ones be sure br I read their names along this route - am not deluded.
