Arthur Symons - The Primrose Dance

Arthur Symons - The Primrose Dance

Skirts like the amber petals of a flower, br A primrose dancing for delight br In some enchantment of a bower br That rose to wizard music in the night; br br A rhythmic flower whose petals pirouette br In delicate circles, fain to follow br The vague aerial minuet, br The mazy dancing of the swallow; br br A flower's caprice, a bird's command br Of all the airy ways that lie br In light along the wonder-land, br The wonder-haunted loneliness of sky: br br So, in the smoke-polluted place, br Where bird or flower might never be, br With glimmering feet, with flower-like face, br She dances at the Tivoli.
