Charles Sangster - Good Night

Charles Sangster - Good Night

We never say, 'Good Night;' br For our eager lips are fleeter br Than the tongue, and a kiss is sweeter br Than parting words, br That out like swords; br So we always kiss Good Night. br br We never say 'Good Night.' br Words are precious, love, why lose 'em? br Fold them up in your maiden bosom; br There let them rest, br Like love unconfessed, br While we kiss a sweet Good Night. br br There comes a last Good Night. br Human life-not love-is fleeting; br Heaven send many a birth-day greeting; br Dim years roll on br To life's gray-haired dawn, br Ere we kiss our last Good Night.
