Frederick George Scott - Beyond

Frederick George Scott - Beyond

MY heart it lies beyond, dear, br In the land of the setting day, br Where the whispers are soft and fond, dear, br Of the voices that pass away; br And oft, when the night is falling, br 5 br And a calm is on the sea, br I fancy I hear them calling br rom that far-off land for me. br It is only idle dreaming, br But the dream is full of rest, br 10 br And up where that glory is streaming, br From the gates of the golden west, br I wander away in spirit, br With a mingled joy and pain, br Till I almost seem to inherit br 15 br The sweet dead past again. br I see the old dear faces, br I greet them hand to hand; br But sadly too, for the places br Seem strange in that curious land; br 20 br Till a new light breaks, and all other br Grows dim to my streaming eyes; br For a son has found his mother br In the depths of the throbbing skies.
