Ebola death toll in Mali growing

World health Organization officials say there are now four confirmed and probable Ebola deaths in Mali.br br The first death was that of a two year old girl.br br The second was a 25 year old nurse and the third- the patient she was treating- a Muslim imam who was never tested for the virus.br br Doctors said his symptoms suggested something else was wrong.br br (SOUNDBITE) (French) HEAD OF CNAM (NATIONAL CENTRE FOR DISEASE CONTROL) AND EBOLA RESPONSE, DR. SAMBA SOW, SAYING:br br "He had no symptoms suggestive of the Ebola virus. He had no fever, no bleeding, no symptoms, he had a picture of acute kidney failure."br br When the imam died his highly contagious body was washed in a mosque in Bamako and returned to Guinea for burial without precautions against Ebola.br br WHO officials say the fourth person was a friend who had visited the imam in hospital but no additional details were given.
