Your parents safety your peace of mind

Parents spend years caring for their children and ultimately the roles are reversed: adult children need to care for their aging parents. It can be an awkward transition, particularly for parents who value their independence and dont want to view themselves as elderly or in need of help.br br The Balancing Act invited Christine Roberts from Alert1 to address the issue of how to care for aging parents in a responsible way that is also sensitive to the fact that they may not think they need special care. As Roberts points out, many adults are active and vibrant at 65 or 70, yet they can still trip on a rug and be incapable of calling for help. Additionally, the divorce rate in our country means that many senior citizens are living alone. br br Viewers who have parents over the age of 65 will be stunned by the statistics:br br •One in three people over the age of 65 have a serious fall each yearbr •The majority of falls and emergencies happen at homebr •Time is of the essence if found within an hour, the chance of being found alive are 92; if not found for two to three hours, the chances drop to 47.br br How can adult children offer security to their parents and peace of mind for themselves? Roberts recommends the Alert1 Medical Alarm System. br br The Alert1 Medical Alarm System is a system that's simply worn around the neck-- and has a push button that goes to a call center. Rather than simply alerting 911, the call center will ask the level of the emergency and the response needed. It might be that an ambulance is needed; or it might simply be a request for a neighbor to come to the home for assistance. The bottom line is that it is like a personal safety insurance to have help at the push of a button.br br For more information, visit www.Alert1.com.
