Colombia: Released general claims he was on social mission

General Ruben Dario Alzate, released Sunday by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), spoke publicly for first time yesterday afternoon. President Juan Manuel Santos had publicly asked for an explanation of exactly what he was doing in rebel held territory, dressed as civilian, and with no security backup. Alzate said he was in the area as part of a social project. Santos said he was satisfied with this explanation and accepted the general's resignation. The press, however, was more skeptical and pointed to holes in general's story. Charles Parkinson reports from Bogota.
