Latin American governments are creating new organizations to propel regional integration and help the continent achieve true independence.br Key to this is the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR). Officially launched in 2008 the bloc involves 12 countries, has a combined population of 400 million people and an economy of over 4 trillion dollars.br UNASUR offers a new vision to help the region fulfil its potential by emphasizing political, social, and economic integration. br UNASUR takes another major step forward in December 2014 with new headquarters in Quito, Ecuador.
