The nominations for the Producers Guild Awards have been announced and "Birdman" was among the 10 films listed for their top honor. The film, which stars Michael Keaton as a former Hollywood star trying to revive his career on the stage, has been a frontrunner in the awards season race. Among the other films listed were Richard Linklater's "Boyhood" and Wes Anderson's "The Grand Budapest Hotel."

Clint Eastwood's portrayal of an Iraq war hero in "American Sniper" made the list, as did two British biopics, "The Imitation Game" and "The Theory of Everything."

The Producers Guild is often seen as an early prognosticator to the Oscar best picture winner - which may not be good news for the Martin Luther King, Jr. film "Selma," which did not get a nomination. Also absent from the list was Angelina Jolie's "Unbroken."

The Producers Guild hands out its awards on January 24.
