The request by Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal seeking premature release of 13 terror convicts before their due date has snowballed into a big controversy. Although it has not outrightly condemned the demand, Akali Dal's ally BJP has made it clear that national interest is the top priority for the government.
